Back to school with amazing fabric covered moleskines!

The school is just begun and with some of my favourite hand carved rubber stamps I've took decision to produces some folder in fabric for notebooks, that can help each crafty person to bring the joy all around. These notebook covers fit with the classic and chic moleskine and I made them in two size:

Red Paris!

Today the streets of Paris, between Chinese lanterns and heart-shaped balloons, have literally painted red. In fact, more than the Carnival devoted to Valentine's Day, February 14th also marks the start of Chinese New Year. So, while in a spot it was celebrating the Spring Festival with the the "Dragon Dance" and firecrackers, in another area of the town a festive group of masked people, who at the sound of drums, was parading giving their own interpretation of tall couple. Yes, because the main theme of Carnival, in honor of Valentine's Day, focused on couples improbables; It was a pity that my boyfriend has refused to dress like a bear, otherwise I would be able to fulfill my dream to form the odd couple that I have created on this notebook a little time ago... It would really be a perfect opportunity to celebrate the impossible love of these two funny characters...

About tall couples: at a certain point, the two parades (the carnival and the Chinese New year ones) met together giving rise to this odd couple:

Although these two worlds seem apparently very far, this meeting is the emblem of multiculturalism in Paris and its extraordinary ability to mix all identities.

I was forgetting to say that 2010 is the year of the tiger. According to the Chinese Zodiac, who is born under the sign of the Tiger is someone equipped with a magnetic personality, sense of authority and independence. On the other hand, Tiger persons are quite indifferent, a little cold, proud and ambitious. And for celevration this New Chinese Year, I've hand carved a rubber stamp featuring the Tiger. Voilà!

Petits écoliers

By now, I guess it's a self-evident truth that I love to hand carve my rubber stamps... but not everybody knows that I love as much as or maybe even more to find the right way to use them! For this reason, I created this wonderful pencil case in raw cotton and vichy cotton that looks very well with these tiny Matryoshkas...

Who did never dream once at least to come back, even only for a day, on the school desk? I remember that, when I was at the primary school, the revolting fashion of using those enormous and ugly cases featuring the cartoons characters was just boomed... I was the only little girl who paraded her little fabric retro pencil case around, very similar to the one I've created today! It's unnecessary to say that, even if there was no TV heros represented, my case was the more envied of the whole classroom! If you want to offer to your children a timeless accessory or you want simply to have the school of other times comes to life again, this cute and nostalgic little case is the good one for you...

Fabric Moleskine's notebook covers

Moleskine is the heir of the legendary notebook used for the past two centuries by great artists and thinkers, including Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin. This trusty, pocket-sized travel companion held their sketches, notes, stories, and ideas before they became famous images or beloved books. Today, Moleskine is culture, travel, memory, imagination, and personal identity; I adore the simply elegance of these handmade notebooks and among cahiers, diaries, and adress books, I have to admit that's never enough for me! In order to distinguish them, seeing that they so many that colours are not enough, I'm used to customise my Moleskine notebooks either making little stamps on them or crafting fabric covers that, more than protect them, give to these notebooks a sweet zakka looking. These ones into my photos are some covers that I've purpose-made for Moleskine's notebooks. They are available in two sizes:

• Pocket size: 9 x 14 cm (3 1/2 x 5 1/2 "), the cahier has 64 pages and the last 16 sheets are detachable;
• Large size: 13 x 21 cm (5 x 8 1/4 "), the cahier has 80 pages and the last 16 sheets are detachable.

The stamps are also hand-made both with hand-carved rubber stamps and with stamps from my personal collection. The ink used is the VersaCraft one... the outcome is so sweet, I really hope you like it as well!!
