The month of sweetness

January is for me the month of sweetness. Xmas holidays are just gone, and my house is still stuffed with candies and sweeties of all kinds... I'm aware that it will be needed a certain time for buffering all them; for that, during this month my blog will host and show creations inspired directly to the wonderful world of cakes and candies. After having presented you the galette des rois, this is the time of this candy necklace above, I hope you like it, it would be found on my etsy...

Yet, as you maybe have the sorrow to try it, sweeties are sworn enemies of little teeth (and maybe best friend of dentists...). For never forgetting this cons of candies, I've also produced a safety pin with a tooth along with paste and brush (pic here above) and a tooth hand carved rubber stamp (pic here below). You can find both on my etsy shop as well... I hope you will enjoy them!!

I'm singing in the rain... with matryoshka dolls!

Rain Drop safety pin

Here is Paris autumn is definitively started and, by now, it's raining since several days ago... probably the sun is striking for a right reason, but this permanent cloudy and rainy weather risks to terribly depress me! So, in order to cope with this season, I took decision to exorcise my unease with a smile: and here this my new collection completely dedicated to smily and funny clouds, which if put on they will be able to make funny also the dampest autumn day!

Raining Cloud necklace

More than this rainy kilt pin and these cloudy necklaces, our deep need of happiness and smiling could be fulfilled with these adorable Matryoshkas! Nothing makes me happy as much as a Russian Doll...

Crafts and dreams

How to prepare a dream? Take the colors and emotions of the day, mix them with sounds, voices musics, memories from the past, add something of the hopes for the future and this is your dream. Nothing more, nothing less. Anyway, for a creative mind dreams are not something different from reality, but live and intersect with it, influencing the direction until it becomes difficult to determine where one ends and the other begins. Stéphane, the protagonist of The Science of Sleep, does not get out from reality seeking refuge in dreams; he just lives his life through them, dreams are his way of relating to things and understand them... art, dreams and life are so closely bound to be indistinguishable.
What I particularly loved about this film is that Stéphane's dreams far away from being soft and evanescent as it is usual to consider them, appear to be very concrete, physically constructed with cardboard, glue, and fabric. He is a practical dreamer, he has a concrete and realist attitude that creates a different reality, more reassuring, almost childish. Even the art of Stéphanie, the girl with which Stéphane fell in love, is not conceptual or abstract at all: she sews colored felt giving life to sweet and reassuring creatures with apparent large stitches. And it is their meeting to make their dreams more real because they can share them.
Me too, just as Stéphanie and Stéphane, I need to touch the concreteness of my dreams that comes to life thanks to a warm and friendly material like felt that fills with colored rolls my little attic under Paris rooftops.
Below are some of my concrete creations, hope you like them!

Kokeshi dolls felt charmed safety pin!

Kokeshis are traditional Japanese dolls, still nowadays very popular both as interior decoration and as lucky charms against bad luck. In Japan they are done with wood and hand made, but I find them cute insomuch as I wanted to craft four ones in felt to hang them as charms on this safety pin, which will become a unique gift for a special person!

Autumn is come! Mushrooms felt charmed safety pin

Today, the 21st September, autumn starts and as you probably know autumn is the time of mushrooms! And, unbelievable, this morning while I was tidying up I sought out these four cute friends in a corner of my atelier! So, I've taken decision to craft them in a safety pin in order to celebrate the overcoming of the new season in a kawaii style; maybe you can use that as a lucky charm to bring with you during wood excursions to seek real mushrooms to eat!
